Welcome to Southtown Primary School Nurturing shoots - growing minds

Headteacher Blog

Good afternoon to all parents/carers and children

I thought that I would check that you are all keeping well and enjoying the activities that you have access to.  We still have no idea when we will return to school and how the return will look - whether we will all come back at the same time or whether there will be a staggered return.  The school is open over the holidays for children of key workers and staff are taking turns on a rota to work with the children.  After Easter we will return to being open for children of key workers and any families who have social worker involvement or other reasons to send their children to school.  We are expecting the virus to peak over the next week or so and if any key workers are called to work at short notice and need child care from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm then please telephone our emergency number 07907616595.

I hope that you have enjoyed getting the contact calls from your child's teacher.  We intend to keep in touch with you every couple of weeks so that we can see how you are getting on with the home learning and more importantly, how you are getting on with the lock down and isolation.  If there is anything we can do to help please let the teachers know when they call you.  Many parents have said that they find it difficult to access the online home learning so we intend to do learning packs for those children after the Easter holidays.

Mr Lack is the link for Year 1 children as Mr Winter is no longer working at school.  Mr Lack is setting up the home learning activities for children in Birch Class and will be the contact teacher on Seesaw and other interactive platforms.

We hope to have the Free School Meal vouchers sorted soon but I am sure that you can appreciate the company designated to deal with them have been inundated over the past few days.  Please check your junk mail boxes and search for emails from Edenred.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your cooperation at this difficult time.  I appreciate that only families who have needed to have used the school for their childcare. This has helped us to maintain social distancing and ensure the school is cleaned at the end of each day in order to keep the children and staff working with them as safe as possible.

Stay Safe
