Safeguarding
Southtown Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We have safer recruitment procedures in place and a Safeguarding Policy to ensure that all children are safe while at school.
We provide a safe environment for every child which is conducive to learning.
We also aim to identify children who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, taking appropriate action if required to keep them safe both in school and at home. This includes:
- preventing unsuitable people working with the children
- promoting safe practice (and challenging poor and unsafe practice)
- identifying instances in which there are grounds for concern about a child’s welfare
- taking appropriate action to keep them safe
- contributing to effective partnerships between all those involved with providing services for the children.
Our Safeguarding team deals with issues related to behaviour, child safety and protection, and liaise with other agencies, where necessary.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Tracey Johnson.
Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) are Mr Ben Newstead, Miss Sophie Alp, Mrs Sarah Green and Mrs Mel Gillies.
Online Safety is taught through the use of KAPOW at Southtown Primary School.
