Personal, Social and Health Education
"Personal social health education is learning about how to keep yourself happy, healthy and safe."
Southtown Primary pupils.
Intent
Our aim is for all of our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We want children to develop personally and socially and feel confident to tackle the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We want our children to become global citizens, know about rights and responsibilities and respect what it means to be a member of a diverse society. We want our children to know how to respect the environment. We want our children to be able to develop healthy relationships.
Implementation
Children are taught a Personal, Social and Health curriculum in a discrete weekly lesson.
Impact
Children will develop positive and healthy relationships and have respect for themselves and others. They will value the implications of living in a diverse society. They will be understand and be able to manage a range of emotions. They will recognise and apply the British Values of democracy, tolerance, mutual respect, rule of law and liberty.
