SRB - Panda Class
Panda Class is Southtown Primary School's Specialist Resource Base.
We specialise in supporting the Speech Language and Communication needs of ten children from primary schools across the local area and beyond.
The children are supported by a specialist teacher, an HLTA and a TA, all trained to work alongside our Speech therapy colleagues to help the children improve their communication skills and return to their mainstream classes Our speech therapists are in the SRB for two days each week.
All of our children have access to the full Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1 curriculum and also have lots of opportunities to join in with activities and events within the school.
Our Learning this Half Term
Our curriculum focus for the first half of the spring term is on Toys. We will be thinking about, comparing and describing our favourite toys. We will also be learning about toys from the past and how the toys that we play with have changed over time. We will be finding out about 'living memory' and talking to the adults around us about the toys that they remember playing with. We will learn how to play with some 'old fashioned' toys and compare them with the modern toys that we have at home. We will read and write stories about lost toys, creating our own story settings and characters and composing stories with a beginning, middle and end. We will design and make our own toys in DT and computing lessons.
We will also continue our outdoor learning, using the school environment to learn about seasonal changes in the winter time and about caring for living things. We will make bird feeders and take part in the Big Schools' Bird Watch.
Have a look at our Curriculum Plan for the term to see some of the other learning that the children will be doing across the curriculum this half term.
